Chiarella Bencan Moderates the Roundtable at Great Place to Work Spain: “AI Requires Balancing Efficiency with Human Development, Prioritizing Critical Thinking, Ethics, and Spaces for Innovation”
Drawing on insights from the organization’s annual study, the discussion- —titled Connecting People, Culture and Purpose —focused on organizational culture and evolving work models, employee well-being y mental health, and the growing role of AI—alongside the enduring value of human connection in the workplace.
Reflecting on the session, Chiarella Bencan highlighted several powerful insights that emerged during the conversation. “Flexible policies must go beyond generational needs—they should adapt to each person’s individual circumstances and stage of life,” she noted, emphasizing the importance of personalization in today’s workplace strategies. She also stressed that well-being and incentive programs only have real impact when they are clearly communicated and supported by ongoing feedback from employees.
“Communication is key. These initiatives only work when people understand their purpose and feel heard.”
Another theme that resonated throughout the session was the growing presence of Artificial Intelligence in the workplace. According to Bencán, AI must be approached with a mindset that balances efficiency with human development, giving priority to critical thinking, ethics, and spaces for innovation.
Finally, she underscored that well-being is not solely the responsibility of the organization—it’s a shared commitment between employers and employees. For well-being strategies to be truly effective, she argued, they must be addressed from a holistic perspective.
The roundtable brought together a diverse group of Spanish HR leaders: Marianna Lobelo Arredondo, Group Talent & Employee Experience Head at doValue; Irene Pozo, Head of Talent at Kairós; Ana Colomer Vicent, Senior Talent Partner at Octopus Energy; and Javier Sordo, Head of People at Thoughtworks.
