One of the greatest golfers of all time
Former professional golfer Lorena Ochoa is considered one of the best female golfers of all time. At the age of 22, Ochoa became the second Mexican woman to earn a card in the Ladies Professional Golf Association, and on April 23rd of 2007, she reached the top of the Rolex Women’s World Golf World Rankings, becoming the first Mexican woman to do so. Ochoa held the number one spot in the ranking for 158 consecutive weeks, until she retired in April 2010. To this day, no one has surpassed that record. In 2008, Forbes included her in the World’s Most Powerful People list.
That same year, she earned a spot on Time magazine’s list of the Most Influential People. Ochoa is also known for her dedication to promoting golf in Mexico and her philanthropic work through the Lorena Ochoa Foundation, which supports charitable causes in her native country.
