Every year on April 22, Earth Day invites us to pause and reflect on the state of our planet—and the role each of us plays in its future. Earth Day began in 1970 as a bold civic movement. Sparked by a devastating oil spill and inspired by the momentum of social change, over 20 million people across the United States took to the streets to demand environmental action. It marked the birth of modern environmental consciousness—and catalyzed policies that reshaped the way governments approached ecological protection. Today, over a billion people in more than 190 countries join the movement each year, reminding us that real progress is only possible when citizens, institutions, and leaders move together in the same direction.

Now more than ever, companies have a critical role to play. Not just as supporters of environmental initiatives—but as active allies to governments and citizens in building a world where environmental impact is not only reduced, but also mitigated and repaired.

Through this collaboration, for every attendee at the World Business Forum Madrid a tree is planted in the WOBI Forest—a living, growing symbol of our commitment to reducing the event’s carbon footprint and supporting long-term reforestation.

And this year, we went a step further. The entire WOBI Madrid team joined Bosquia in the field, planting trees ourselves to amplify the impact. It was a powerful day—rooted in purpose, connection, and the shared belief that business can, and should, be a force for good.
